Google I/O 2016 in Nutshell


Google I/O 2016, the developer conference organize by Google annually, winds down today. Here's a summary of Google I/O 2016 that tells about what we can expect from Google for the rest of the year.

The Google Assistant

Google introduce "Assistant", the voice assistant that comes to compete with Apple's "Siri", Microsoft's "Cortana" and Amazon's "Echo".


Google Home

Google Home is a voice assistant device similar to Amazon,s Echo. "Google Home is a voice-activated product that brings the Google assistant to any room in your house." said Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google.


Google Allo

Google Allo is a messaging app incorporated with Google Assistant for Android and iOS.


Google Duo

Google Duo is a Video Calling App for Android and iOS.


Android Instant Apps

Android Instant Apps allows you to run Android Apps without installing.


Android N, Wear, Daydream VR and Chromebooks

The most exiting thing in Google I/O 2016 is about the new Android OS, i.e. Android N. Still the name of Android N is not confirmed. So now you can propose a name for Android N at Android.com/N. A New version of Android Wear, that is Android Wear 2.0 is coming soon.



With the introduction of Daydream VR, Google proves that they are entering in to the VR game both in hardware and software. Daydream offers a headset and remote controller while the "Labs" program allows developers to develop contents for Daydream VR.

Chrome OS will support Android apps sooner. So high-end Chromebooks will come later this year.
